"Pecan" - 6 x 6 inches - oil on canvas

"Pecan" - 6 x 6 inches - oil on canvas
I have a soft spot in my heart for Beanie Babies.  My kids were the perfect age when they became the latest craze.  I have fond memories of them playing with these little cuddly creatures.

This past weekend, we set up tables outside Art on Main and held a yard sale.  Marie, the proprietor of Le Gourmet Jardin, was selling a bucket full of Beanie Babies.  I borrowed this sweet little bear and painted him to help pass the time between customers.

"Strawberry Festival" - 6 x 6 inches - oil on canvas

"Strawberry Festival" - 6 x 6 inches - oil on canvas
The Strawberry Festival is an annual event that I look forward to every year.  Our town common is transformed with artisans selling their wares, live music from local performers, and best of all, yummy Strawberry shortcake!

The Art on Main gallery is only a short distance from the town common, so, each year we set up our own tent and put out merchandise to entice people to stop and browse.  This year, I sat under the tent and gave a painting demo.  What to paint?  Strawberries, of course!  Below are some pictures of this year's event...we were blessed to have such a beautiful day.

"Boston Cream Stack" - 8 x 8 inches - oil on canvas - SOLD

"Boston Cream Stack" - 8 x 8 inches - oil on canvas
I was recently hearing a lot of chatter about "National Doughnut Day" and didn't realize that it was actually a real thing.  Here is what I found out: "National Doughnut Day is on the first Friday of June each year, succeeding the Doughnut Day event created by The Salvation Army in 1938 to honor the women who served doughnuts to soldiers during World War I.

Because there was so much recent talk of donuts, I was inspired to paint this stack of Boston Cream Donuts.  I specifically picked the "Boston Cream" in honor of the Boston Bruins advancing to compete in the Stanley Cup playoffs....go Bruins!

"Nectarines" - 6 x 6 inches - oil on canvas

"Nectarines" - 6 x 6 inches - oil on canvas

I found this blue dish towel in the bottom of a drawer and just loved the smoky blue color.  I knew it would pair well with the orange nectarines and make for a dynamic painting.

Congratulations to Judy Quint for winning my May give-away!  Better late than never.  Since I was late, I decided to draw the June winner at the same time.  Congratulations to Mary Valente! Please contact me with your snail mail address.  To be eligible for my monthly give away, simply sign up for my mailing list - enter your email and click the subscribe button on the top right side of my blog.  I've given away note cards, calendars, prints and even original paintings!
